Tiridates the Great was the Armenian king (298-330).
In 301, Tiridates proclaimed Christianity as the state religion of Armenia, making the Armenian kingdom the first state to officially embrace Christianity.
Tiridates initiated the construction of Christian churches to replace the pagan temples. In 302 according to the decree of Tiridatus Gregory the Enlightener was sent to Caesarea where he was consecrated Armenian Catholicos.
Titidatus the Great managed to restore the territorial integrity of Armenia.
